Pierluigi Mancini, PhD, founder and president of the Multicultural Development Institute in Atlanta, Georgia, and his team of researchers recently developed a useful new toolkit for the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. The council is a membership organization devoted to advocating for policy and social change to foster equitable access to mental health and substance abuse treatment.
“Addressing Health Equity and Racial Justice within Integrated Care Settings” is a free interactive online resource designed to help mental health professionals and organizations address racial inequities and stigmas that lead to disparities in treatment.
Dr. Mancini, who is also a member of NBCC’s Minority Fellowship Program-Addictions Counselor Advisory Council, says that although the toolkit is currently only available in English, a Spanish version is in the works. Those interested can access the toolkit here.
